ABOUT THE CLUB

Established in 1998, ICSM Netball caters to all abilities, with 5 teams ranging from competitive to social. With over 100 members (and 100s of alumni), ICSM Netball is a fantastic way to meet new friends. Whether you’re looking to try a new sport or to develop existing skills, we offer something for everyone! Please don't be fooled by our name, ANYONE can join, not just medics!

Our 1s-4s compete weekly in BUCS and LUSL leagues, and our Social team compete in a more casual league. On top of that, we train every Sunday afternoon in Hammersmith under the watchful eye of our wonderful coaches. All 5 teams compete in a nail-biting annual Varsity match too! All of this is overseen by our amazing committee!

I know what you’re thinking - how do you keep on top of uni work with all of this going on? Luckily our educational support is second to none, with plenty of tutorials for all year groups covering the topics you want, mock exams, and fantastic personal tutoring schemes for clinical exams. All this to ensure we can thrive as medics not just netballers!

ICSM Netball prides itself on the fact that we are more than just a sports club. Our infamous social side provides endless fun throughout the year! You can undoubtedly find us having as much a great time off-court as we do on-court. We have sports night every week, team socials, curries, bowling, Christmas dinner and End of Season dinner just to name a few of our amazing events! We also go on two tours a year - International tour and Fetball tour, where we team up with the lovely ICSM Football boys for one of the most entertaining and always highly anticipated weekend of the year!

Welcome back ICSM Netball and Happy 26th Birthday to our incredible club! I hope you are all as excited for this year as I am. Firstly, thank you to Nina and her committee for another great year, the club went from strength to strength, ending the year with a huge number of successes. As always, the family feel of the club became even more apparent as the girls helped one another grow both on and off the court.

Our 4 teams competed in both LUSL and BUCS leagues last year with some incredible results throughout the season. And our socials team had a great time playing without the competitive stress. We look forward to starting the season again and continuing to bring home lots of wins! With both strength and conditioning and preseason training in full swing, this season promises to be another successful one! A triumphant moment last year was winning our
Varsity Champions title for the EIGHTH year in a row against IC! I am confident we will go into this year with the same motivation and dedication!

Every year I am still taken aback by how much ICSM Netball has to offer and how it has truly shaped my time at Imperial and so with big things already planned, I am honoured to be working with the rest of committee, our two coaches and Deputy Co-Captain Mary in providing another fantastic year for us all!

If you are new to the club or looking to join and have any questions please get in touch!

FAQs

We have answered some common questions we are asked on this page. Feel free to contact us with any other questions you have!

  • Why should I join ICSM Netball?
  • What teams do you have?
We have 4 competitive teams that play in BUCS and LUSL leagues as well as a socials team! To be a part of a team, you must have subs as this pays for our coaches, umpires, equipment, transport and court hire!
  • Do you run trials? Do I need to have played before?
Yes we run trials during Fresher's Fortnight! However, you still have the chance to climb up the team ranks throughout the year. You don't need to have played before! You can play in our socials team and learn the game and if you want to join a competitive team that's always a possibility!
  • How often are matches and where are they?
Matches are every Wednesday afternoon. Home games are at Imperial College Sports Ground aka Harlington, while away matches obviously differ!
  • What social events do you run?
We run a multitude of events throughout the year! Weekly Wednesday sports nights! Joint socials with Football and Rugby. Including Fetball and Nugby bowling and Fetball Fresher Second year Curry and the infamous Fetball tour Girls tour - domestic and international weekend away with the club! • I don't want to play, can I still come to social events?
You certainly don't have to play to come to social events! We do encourage you to buy subs however as many of our sports nights are filled with different games and challenges, our social secs must buy (and reimbursed by the club) the bits and pieces that make our sports nights so fun. As well as this some of our social events are exclusive and members only! These include UH night, tours, dinners etc... To be on top of all social events we offer, buy subs and you will be added to our members WhatsApp group chat where event info and links to be the first to know of any upcoming events!
  • What does ticketed and limited availability mean for social events?
Ticketed means that to enter the afterparty a ticket must be purchased from the Imperial College Union page. Don't worry all events will be promoted on Instagram as well as links posted on the respective event pages! Limited availability means that some of our events have a certain number of people that can attend... You must have bought subs and register in the forms section of our Members and Alumni page (password is given to those with membership).
  • How do I run for committee?
AGM is hosted at the end of Term 2 where all those going for a committee role make a speech in front of the club to show why they should vote for them! Leading up to AGM, manifestos must be written and these will be sent out to the club.
  • I don't drink but I still want to be involved in Sports Night!
You DEFINITELY do not have to drink if you don't want to! Our 2021-2022 Club Captain, Sumrah, didn't drink and she still had the best time! We have other members in our club that don't drink as well, you won't miss out! Come to circles with a pitcher of squash or even just water and have a great time! xxx
  • What's the password for the Members and Alumni Page?
The password is given to current members and alumni of ICSM Netball. In order to receive it you must buy subs.
